France

It is good to be back in France, a bit of camping and some hotels,  temperatures have been in the main pretty brutal and we were going to the Gironde area but it's on fire so we headed a bit further North.
We took the small roads right across France and despite it being slow it was brilliant, relaxed, hardly any traffic and good road surfaces , the only thing is you need to keep an eye on the speed. Having being on the receiving end of a through the post fine a few years ago I am now a bit more careful.
In the main it has been too hot to camp but we did manage a few days, at the last site our neighbour was a Guzzi owner who actually lived in Flers where we stopped for the night before we arrived in the campsite in the South of the Cherbourg peninsula.  

Now in Le Havre for a couple of days before making our way North towards Escalles on Friday. The pictures tell the story better than I can, keeping on keeping on.....

    Looking very manageable. Shame the cafes dinnae stay open a wee bit longer. Maybe should have hopped across to Jersey, then Guernsey, really pushed the boat out for Alderney, afore returning to Guernsey to get the boat home to Portsmouth, with Condor Ferries? Still, pleased to see you safe. Temperatures down to 4°C overnight and we've had some good doses of rain. The "jungle" awaits! ;¬) Very pleasant today, 16°C, with cool Force 5 - 6 westerly and a shower further west. Good health, Bill and Kat

      Even opening before 7pm would be a bonus. We did think about it but the slog in the South was too much to contemplate. Been a wipers day today, cold earlier then when the sun comes up warm but the sea breeze offered some respite. Only downhill from now

    Great to see the weather still holding up for you; it has been a bit iffy here, and I did hit some heavy rain on Sunday at times when out on the BM, but still warm and totally dried me out again in no time. Great photos again, thanks for sharing, Budge.

    Noo there's a coincidence,I crossed on the Portsmouth/Le Havre ferry
    on the way tae Norton Rallye at St Pom-pom in Dordogne..475 miles Anither great Rally. Like youse I came back on the D roads,great surface. Anither 475 miles, don't think I wid be up tae it noo.Wis anither 475 exactly hame on the tuesday.Wis a couple o' years ago.
