Euro trip part 4

We left Rocchetta after a heavy rainstorm that got the bikes absolutely filthy, up till now they had been still clean but it dried up quickly enough, through a busy Ventimiglia with the crazy scooter riders and onto the Autostrada for the quick hop to Nice before turning off onto the wonderful main road that leads to Grenoble eventually, a lunch stop at a roadside cafe in Touet-Sur-Var and then after a while turning off onto the road towards the Gorge du Verdun, stunning scenery despite the fact the clouds were gathering, passed through Castellane and then a downpour, started as rain so we put the waterproofs on then it turned to hailstones so we took shelter in a closed cafe in a campsite, whilst there we were joined by a nice Italian couple also on a Bonneville, Fabio and Rosita, the hail subsided we swapped numbers and E mail addresses and we set off again but then again heavy rain but it subsided quickly and the sun came out drying the place in no time. Spectacular views over the Lake and I must admit to feeling a bit light headed taking the photos as we were so high up. A very long day in the saddle to cover only 128 miles but worth it. Camping at Muestiers Saint Marie, well worth a stop there is a nice campground, friendly with a nice cafe attached, reasonable prices, nice food and wine!!
We left the following day and traveled on a variety of D roads, we did at one point venture onto the motorway but the Mistral wind was picking up and we both thought it safer to stick to the small roads, the downside was travelling through some bigger towns and the last few miles seemed to take forever, I was glad to see Marc from Belgium at the side of the road waiting to guide us into the campground just North of Vaisons Les Romain. Marc and Mika are on the organisation for the Begonia rally and holiday in this campsite in Provence a few times a year, we knew they were there so it would have been rude not to join them for a couple of days. We spent a great couple of days looking around, eating, drinking and visiting a vineyard, whats not to like? Some photos and hopefully soon part 5! Thanks for the comments, it lets me know I'm not just rambling to myself (well no more than usual)

Lunch Touet sur var
Despite being France that architecture reminds us we are near the Italian border
Now some fun
Nice
And then very wet!
Well worth a visit
It seemed higher when I took this photo
Camping
With wine
The Kawasaki clothes horse
Full Moon
Camping in Provence
Some authentic stores in Vaisons
Its called Vaisons Les Romains for a reason, Roman architecture all around
With our hosts
The old town
Nice place
Vineyards all over the place
The newer part of town
All these fortresses saw action hundreds of years ago
I was relegated to the back!
Wine tasting with the owner
And the vines that provided our wine
This guy was on an Aprillia enjoying the roads, no chicken strips here!
Enjoying the food and the vino!
