DeleteHola Fiona & Gino,
ReplyDeleteThat millipede, with pink/red legs you took an image of is written about here:
http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=3CTf8bnlndwC&pg=PA145&lpg=PA145&dq=south+american+millipedes&source=bl&ots=87oI4DDtDN&sig=1YFSRTTmBS6i_2Po5F_bDRFxih0&hl=en&sa=X&ei=b8YzUZfTCNHK0AWV3IGQBw&ved=0CHQQ6AEwDA#v=onepage&q=south%20american%20millipedes&f=false
On page 145 at the bottom of the left-hand column. The whole chapter from page 144 - 146 is nae a bad read and the 'Chemical warfare' capabilities could prove interesting! Many of these millipedes have not been named, so you could find a new species on your travels! Latin names for a millipede named after Gino! I'm no going there, but see that you might after a wee snifter. ;¬)
Good health and cross to the North side, safe.
Regards, Bill.
Aye new game for after drinking, name the Millipede!

Hello you pair. Enjoying the blog. I was disappointed to read recently that the 'fact' of water flowing clockwise and anti-clockwise down drains North and South of the equator is another urban myth, so don't waste hours of your lives pouring water through various orifices as I would have done, in the futile hope of such a revelation.. http://www.snopes.com/science/coriolis.asp
ReplyDeleteWatch out for those Gionapedes... Vicious things.
best, Jake
I'll check it out anyway Jake just to prove it IS true, hopefully make a video of just that ha ha. Aye they squirt nasty stuff I believe, I stay away from everything that looks different in an attempt NOT to get tropical diseases

Hi Gino.
ReplyDeleteGreat vid and superb soundtrack. By the way, there's a barber shop in Equador called 'el barber' visit it! :-)
I'm enjoying your journey.
Cheers. Stuart McLean.
Good one Stuart, not got time for such mundane things as haircuts just yet :-)

Brilliant video, Machu Pichu looks fantastic, think the stone compass explains a lot of the cellsite orientations you have chosen over the years :-0 looks like the bikes are running good again and you are having a fantastic time, keep up the great blog, look forward to the next instalment. Awe ra best, Malky
ReplyDeleteHi Malky, we were going to put a comment in about the cell planning thing but our non Cellular followers wouldn't understand, the stone Compass is more acurate that some used by our planners over the years! Having a great time (although struggling with the grub, I'll market it it when I get back as the South America diet!

Gino & Fiona

Just watched your latest vid - keep them coming! If nothing else it's making all of us here in the snow jealous. Amazing countryside your going through, not too sure about the singing by the women on the reed islands though.
ReplyDeleteRide Safe

Aye the singing was bad ha ha, we'll try to keep them coming as and when we get inspiration, countryside is fantastic, driving isn't!!
