Happy new year

Lets keep it positive, I am not going to mention the weather (oops just did) or Covid (oops just did) Looking back into the Rondelli archives and because I received a picture today of Alex's Norton (before he bought it) I thought I'd repeat our trip to Austria in 2009, unfortunately Fiona was short of holidays so flew out to meet us and I picked her up from Linz airport on the weekend of the rally and dropped her off afterwards, this way she could still go to the rally and enjoy the people and didn't have to suffer a very long and a bit boring ride across Europe following a smelly Norton. The rally was well organised in a small town just outside Graz, a good Scottish contingent in the days when most of us still rode their Nortons across Europe (what ever happened in 12 years?) The rally was marred somewhat by Belgian Richard being airlifted to hospital after a serious accident, luckily writing this years later i'm happy to say he is as mad as ever and still riding Nortons with no sympathy. It was a great weekend and the other thing that I remember and you will see from the photos was that it was very hot, superb! Davie Palmer had a lucky escape when he fell asleep in the roadworks at Wurzburg and had an off in the roadworks, luckily he was ok and the bike not too bad, this was also the year I think when David Templeton exploded his Norton in the fast lane of the Motorway outside Munich, a rod let go with serious consequences for the motor, luckily again Smokey Joe lives again.

Stay safe out there and keep dreaming of the long Summer days......
